Mechanism of Action

Latanoprost is a prostanoid selective F2αP receptor agonist that reduces IOP by increasing the uveoscleral (unconventional) outflow of aqueous humor.

Studies suggest that Ioprost works by opening the drainage channels in the eye. This helps drain the fluid which in turn relieves the high intraocular pressure.

• Ioprost reduces the IOP starting from 3 to 4 hours after administration & the maximum effect is reached after 8 to 12 hours.
• It can be used concomitantly with other topical ophthalmic Drug products to lower the IOP.
