Timogel
is a hydrogel indicated for the reduction
of elevated intraocular pressure.
Each ml contains Timolol maleate 1.37 mg corresponding to 1.0 mg Timolol.
Timolol reduces aqueous humour production by reversibly blocking the adrenergic receptors found on the ciliary's epithelium.
Preservative: Benzalkonium chloride 0.05 mg.
Timogel
once daily has equivalent hypotensive effect to timolol 0.5% solution
twice daily.
90% lower in plasma level after Timogel 0.1% instillation
compared to timolol 0.5% so decreases the systemic side effects accompanied
with timolol.
Dosage
One
drop should be instilled into the conjunctival cul-de-sac and can be
used for a long time.
